What is a Vertebral Subluxation?
When a vertebra becomes misaligned or moves out of its normal position, it’s known as a subluxation in chiropractic care. Subluxations can result from a variety of causes, including a minor slip, car accidents, or sudden trauma. When a vertebra is subluxated, it places pressure on the surrounding nerves, blood vessels, organs, tissues, and glands.
If left uncorrected, the spine and surrounding structures begin to degenerate, and this degeneration becomes harder to reverse over time. As the body compensates for these changes, muscles, nerves, and bones adapt to the misalignment. The longer a subluxation remains untreated, the more difficult it becomes to return to proper alignment and restore optimal function.
